Environmental Issues Dams
Do the needs of a community outweigh future environmental and economic consequences?

Please take one of the following positions on this issue:

* If you are pro dam construction, discuss why the needs of the community are more important than the environmental and economical consequences that will be incurred.
* If you are against the construction of the dam, discuss why the environment should be considered more highly and offer some alternatives for increasing water resources.

Dam? If its hydroelectric then long term its much better for the environment. People are more important than animals.

Environmental Issues Mexico

People have been fashionably drinking bottled water for years and now it is a huge business in the United States and all around the world. For many people it has just become a fact of life that municipal tap water is not reliable or does not taste very good. Although it looks so cool to be chugging back your fancy bottled water of choice, there are many serious reasons to be using it. The main one is the lack of efficiency and the poor quality of water supplied by many government agencies around the world.

There are countries where they’ve had cases of contamination and people cannot count on the purity of their water at all. In countries like the United States, even though the public water supply is strictly monitored and is subject to tight regulations, occasionally problems arise. All it takes is a faulty sewer system, or a flood, and a boil water advisory is issued. In countries like Mexico, tap water has been almost completely replaced with bottled water. You know the saying, when in Mexico, don’t drink the water.

Water is the elixir of our life, and without water, no one can survive. It is in water that life originated and it is the place where many organisms live. If the water that we are using becomes contaminated, there can be catastrophic consequences, so pure drinking water is a matter of great concern for every one of us. With many companies supplying bottled water under famous brand names, we can all access the pure, healthy beverage that makes up the largest component of our bodies.

The biggest advantage of drinking bottled water is that it is safe. The second reason is that it tastes good. So if a person lives in an area where the tap water is safe, but has an unpleasant taste, they might choose to drink the bottled variety. Lots of homes either rent or own coolers, and purchase water in large plastic jugs.

Both bottled and tap water are subject to the same stringent tests and health standards, making them free of pollutants and contaminants. Some consumers are concerned with the different disinfection methods that are used. Chlorine, for example is used to kill bacteria, but the smell and the taste is a problem to many folks, not to mention the questionable long term health risks of chlorine.

Bottled water is usually disinfected by using ozone, which is a type of oxygen. That is why there is no smell or peculiar taste to most brands. Any cleansing method is subject to regulations that meet or exceed standards set by the EPA, and enforced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Companies that bottle untreated water drawn from springs, or other natural sources, are required to print this fact on the label.

If you are going to go to the trouble of searching for good bottled water, and go to the expense of putting a cooler in you home, then why not go a step further and select purified bottled water. This will give you even more peace of mind and buyer satisfaction.

Purified water must be cleansed by reverse osmosis, distillation, or other effective types of disinfection. The water may initially have come from a natural sources or the tap, but this extra level of safety is definitely worth it.

Then, there is the most safe and best tasting water of all, and that is purified oxygenated H20, which is infused with oxygen molecules after distillation. The choice is up to you.
