184 million Filipinos by 2040 and 10th spot as one of the most populated countries in the world. That’s what the Population Commission revealed on their report yesterday. The National Statistics Office said that 3 Filipinos are born every minute. Filipino women gives birth to an average of three children during their child bearing years. And almost half of our population is above 15 years of age. What does it all add up to? A lot of sex.
Kidding aside though, overpopulation is a serious problem. Population growth entails social, economic, and environmental issues. As the population grows, so to is the demand for resources. Resources that are already limited. To get a hold of resources, families must be financially stable. But if the economy isn’t, then financial security cant be attained, thus hindering families to get a hold of resources. You get the picture right?
Population growth cant be stopped, but can be controlled. And the most effective method for me is through artificial means. Prevention, not moderation or “god forbid”, abstinence. The problem though is that religion plays a big role in our lives here in the archipelago. The Roman Catholic Church is very vocal in its denouncement of this method of family planning. And as the biggest Roman Catholic nation here in Asia, a big chunk of the population would rather have a child that they cannot provide for, than burn in hell.
The Philippines is a nation where the separation of church and state only exist in writing. Until the lines are drawn between these two institutions, solving our population problem would be as confusing as the words written on this picture.
Population Growth is Integral to Environmental Issues

Each year teachers are faced with the daunting task of teaching
to a classroom of 20-30 individual students, each with their own
learning styles, interests, and abilities. Providing optimal
learning for such a diverse group can seem overwhelming. But,
there is a simple approach that can be used which will enable
all students to succeed, and that approach is simply using
variety and choice. Not only does this approach address the
multiple learning styles of students, but it also aides in making
them independent learners.
While the classroom still needs to have structure (routines,
rules, procedures), providing variety within that structured
environment can aide in providing optimal learning for all
students. Using a variety of instructional approaches such as
etc. to choose from when assessing their knowledge. Giving
students choice provides them with a sense of empowerment over
their learning and can aide them in deciding what learning styles
and assessments work best for them, thus helping them become
more responsible for their own learning.
It would be a pretty boring world if all learners were the same.
Diversity makes the classroom more interesting and exciting.
Teachers should honor and respect the uniqueness of each
student by offering variety and choice in their classrooms. Not
only will this address the diverse needs of the students, but it
will also help them to become independent learners as well.
After all, is that not the goal of education?

Recent studies have uncovered some additional contaminants in the water so right now the public water supplies are under strong scrutiny these last few years. This is why many people have started using the bottled variety, thinking that they are a better choice. Well, this is a good option, however one needs to keep in mind that the bottled types is using sometimes purified and sometimes spring water.
The two types are really not the same, as there are major differences in the way they are cleaned from impurities and contaminants. Spring and purified water might come from the very underground source, yet the final result is shockingly different, and many people who don’t know the way each type is filtered, has troubles understanding why they are not the same.
Spring water has to come from protected and pure underground sources that has a natural flow to the surface of the earth. Basically the water is gathered from the spring that taps into some underground formation. Once it s brought above ground, it needs to retain its properties that possessed while it was still underground. Of course as the last test, the spring water needs to conform to the same FDA and IBWA standards and any other type of bottled type is also subjected to. Quality testing and treatment are top priority to ensure that the water is pure and safe.
The purified water, on the other hand, will have additional treatment processes that are underlined by IBWA. A couple of these options are distillation, deionization and reverse osmosis. So this makes sure that the purified type is a highly treated drinking liquid and it does not contain any chemicals that you otherwise find in the public supply. As a side note, with purified variety you will never feel a chlorine aftertaste when drinking it.
When you decide to buy pure water, it’s up to you which type you’re going for: the purified or the spring type. The spring type is great, however many people do prefer the great taste that the purified version adds as well as the extra treatments included that make it almost 100% safe to drink at all times. Not only that but the purified water is great for many other things beside drinking: it’s used in cooking, in taking showers and even in washing expensive cars.
