Turrialba Blasts Ash and Gas

Costa Rica’s Turrialba volcano blasted out thick clouds of hot ash, steam, and gas. Some of the ash showered down 20 miles (30 kilometers) from the volcano’s summit. Toxic gas fumes filled the air around the summit, which shook from a sharp increase in earthquakes.
